Ica, a verdant vocation oasis in Perú’s coastal desert, is renowned as the country’s wine production center. One hundred and forty kilometers from Ica lies Nazca and the legendary "pampa", where its tracings of figures and lines on the desert floor have been studied and photographed by experts from all over the world.
Ica is also situated within 40 km of the coast and the beautiful bay of Paracas, where you’ll find excellent beach resort facilities. Boat trips can be taken to the outlying Ballestas Islands, home of Humboldt penguins, sea lions and flocks of sea birds, including Inca terns, cormorants and sea gulls. All this is situated in the Paracas National Reserve, where you will also be able to see dolphins, flamingos, pelicans, condors an wonderful submarine species. Paracas was the center of an advanced pre Inca culture that produced exquisite textiles and mastered the intricacies of cranial trephination. |
